LESSON PLAN

Title: Beauty

Level: Advanced. This activity can be used with adults and teenagers.

Overview of Lesson Plan: By the end of the lesson students will be able to use the HAVE + OB + PARTICIPLE structure. Also, they will discuss about beauty and some topics related to it.

Time Frame: Students will be given 100 minutes to work with the tasks. Since students will also use their student books, this activity can be done in two classes.

 Material / Technological Resources: students will be asked to access: http://www.vuvox.com/collage/detail/0b3693460, so they will either use the school computers or the interactive/smart board.

 Procedures (tasks)

1.      Ask your students to access http://www.vuvox.com/collage/detail/0b3693460.

2.      Ask them to look at the first two pictures and discuss the questions.

3.      Ask them to watch the first video segment and come up with the meaning of “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.

4.      Ask them to watch the second video segment and to say whether they agree with the top models.

5.      Ask them to look at the pictures and come up with sentences using HAVE + OB + PARTICIPLE. The first picture is there as a model.

6.      In groups, the students will look at the last picture and read the questions. Ask them to say whether the sentences are true or false according to their opinions.

 Assessment/Reflection: After having done all tasks, ask students to access http://marinabonani.pbwiki.com/ at home (this is homework), click on edit and write down their concepts of beauty. Also, ask them to write one sentence using HAVE + OB + PARTICIPLE.  The sentence is supposed to be related to their lives.  E.g.: I had my hair done last week. Ask students to write their names below their comments and then click on save.
